Adoption Information

First, fill out an application online .  Once your application is received, it will take 24 to 48 hours for us to review your application and do your civil and criminal back ground check. We will call or e-mail you and give you more details about your specific animal and answer any questions that you may have.

Once your application is approved , we will set up your meet and greet. This is when the dog's foster parent will call you and set up a time, place and date for you to meet the dog. This gives you the opportunity to meet the dog in person. We strongly recommend that the whole family and other dogs come with to the meet and greet.

Home visit gives us an opportunity to see where the animal could be spending the rest of it's life!  This is a very informal meeting.  We want everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed.  We want to make sure that everyone will be happy with the possibility of a new family member.  New additions may not be accepted right away, but we want to make sure that everyone can "get along".

After the meet and greet , we give both parties 24 hours to think about the possibility of the adoption.  We want everyone to make sure that this is the perfect fit for the dog and the adoptive family.  If both parties agree that it is a great fit, we will follow through with the adoption.  At this time we will have you sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee .  We will send you an invoice. This is the only way we take payment.

If your new pet has not yet been spayed or neutered (due to age) there will also be a spay/neuter contract .  What this contract states is that you agree to have your new pet spayed or neutered at a time that your veterinarian sees fit, or at maximum, 6 months of age, whichever comes first.  We also require a spay/neuter deposit.  This is a separate check written out to NDLB and it is held as a deposit .  This check is held until we receive confirmation that the animal has been altered.  You can mail, fax, or have your vet mail/fax/email the confirmation to us.  Once we receive this information, we will mail your deposit check back to you or shred it, whichever you prefer. The amounts of the spay/neuter deposit is $100

After all of these steps have been completed, the adoption is officially complete.  The dog's vet records will then be emailed to you from our vetting coordinator, for you to keep for your records.
