Meet Ovie! This handsome, little, tri-colored puppy came into rescue with his siblings almost three (3) weeks ago. We named him Ovie after the hockey player Alex Ovechkin. 

Ovie's doing great with potty-training! He'll still have accidents (he is a tiny puppy, after all, so that's to be expected), but as long as you bring him out regularly - or when he wanders away from you inside - he knows what he needs to do outside. Sometimes he may need encouragement to poop, particularly with the freezing cold temperatures, so walking around the yard helps (plus he watches everything that the resident dogs do outside, too)! When he's done he'll run back to the door to signal he's ready to go inside. 

Ovie loves to play with our resident dogs - a Pit Bull and a Lab, who's still a big puppy himself - and has fun climbing on our Lab, playing tug, etc. He's helping to teach Ovie boundaries and manners. When Ovie initially arrived he was much more independent; however, now that he has gotten comfortable with us and with his new surroundings he loves to cuddle and snuggle with us. We have puppy beds available for him, which he'll lay in if you're busy, but he far prefers to be next to you when napping. At night we have conquered the routine of him sleeping on his own, gated in our master bathroom. He has a puppy bed in there with a soft blanket, along with some toys, so he gets the entire area - no crate, as that has proven to be a place he definitely does not like to be in. He may cry sometimes through the night, so if you take him outside and bring him back to his room, if you will, he will quiet down and go back to sleep (or chew on/play with some toys). 

He loves to chew on toys, especially antlers, yak snack bones, and stuffed animals. He'll play with these, or our resident dogs, for about 15-20 minutes, then he'll find a puppy bed - or you - to take a nap!  Ovie loves food time - will run after you if he knows it's about breakfast/dinner time and hop-up on you excitedly!  We feed him gated in his area, as our resident dogs have their designated areas, too. After eating we'll take him out, he'll come in and play some more, then repeat the play/nap routine.

We are 100% volunteer based, so on occasion it could take more than the standard 24 hours.
