“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||

Kappy is a happy adorable 9 month old doberman puppy. He has had a very rough start to life, but he has high spirits and angels watching over him. When Kappy was born, his mother rejected the litter. Only him and his sister survived. He was so malnourished that it has had a huge impact on his development. Kappy has neurological issues and is a special needs dog. His gate is extended and exaggerated but he gets around. He walks like a newborn deer or a lamb. He has a head tilt, and some balance issues. Kappy can go up stairs but needs help going down! Although Kappy has a lot of medical issues, he is a very happy boy and has a lot of love to give!
Kappy loves to play with other dogs, but watch out, he might accidentally run in to you because he has a hard time slowing down! He loves to cuddle on the couch and sucks his blanket to relax and put himself to sleep (it's very adorable!) He does great in his kennel and sleeps all night with no accidents. He knows it's correct to potty outside, but sometimes he forgets how to tell you he has to go and will have an accident by the door. He always feels bad when he forgets! Frequent let outs help him to not have any accidents!
He has a hard time holding food and water in his mouth so it takes him a little extra long to eat and drink, but he sure loves his food and water. He does eat and drink best with raised bowls.
He occasionally will do the normal naughty puppy things, like take my slippers and attempt to chew on them, but he's not a huge chewer yet and well behaved for the most part. He is starting to learn how to play with toys and starting to carry them around a little bit. He does well in the car and on the leash. Kappy likes other dogs and does fine with cats.
Kappy's forever home needs to include people with patience and understanding that he is behind on his development resulting in a stunt in growth, and that it takes him longer to learn things. He knows his name, he knows the word "no", he knows the words "come on", and "are you hungry" and "lets go outside". He picks up quick on things, like how to get through the screen we have hanging for the dogs to come in and out of the house. His forever home needs to understand that he will be this way for the rest of his life and willing to work with him and love him unconditionally. The rescue has performed some teeth extractions to better help him eat, and an MRI which you will get the results of. He was previously diagnosed with ringworm and is on medication for that and it is no longer contagious. His digestive system is also very sensitive, so its important to transition any new foods slowly, especially when changing brands of food.
He is the perfect companion and just wants to be shown love and have someone to spend his life with! Kappy deserves a chance at a home with someone that will love him unconditionally. He has been through a lot, but he is able to learn things, it just takes him a bit longer than normal. He has a lot of love to give and deserves the same in return.
