Meet Lexus, a 2-year-old, spayed, Boxer-mix! This girl is a special one and lives with me, an 80-90-year-old. Her appearance alone is memorable with her striking raccoon-like dark circles around her eyes, light beige coat, and 50lbs body. Lexus enjoys a ride in the vehicle and will take an opportunity to explore the neighborhood if given the chance. Luckily she does come back with coaxing and treats. Moving forward the garage is always closed before exiting the vehicle, as she would likely follow anyone she took a fancy to. When I am in my office, she is under my desk at my feet. She is both a foot-warmer and a stumbling block. When I move elsewhere she follows and has her special spots already picked-out all around the house, perfect for a three-to-four-hour nap. Wherever you sit, she is right there – either next to you or at your feet. Sometimes she will crawl up the stairs (matching my speed), while other times she’ll run up like a speeding bullet. She sleeps often, but when awake she will go to the back door to let me know she needs to go out. I go out with her and if I stomp my feet and call to her, she’ll excitedly run in circles at full-speed around me, then comes up to me and stops, as if to ask, ‘What are we going to do next? I need a rest.’ I thought I would need to show Lexus the fenced-in yard by walking the perimeter with her on-leash, but she figured it out her very first time. She is only on-leash when going in the vehicle. She did unsuccessfully attempt to find an escape route (hole in the fence). She enjoys the fenced yard, taking a week before she would even bark while out there. Neighbors on both sides also have dogs, if they’re out they exchange some ‘woofs,’ do some dancing on the fence-line, then both go their separate ways and all is quiet. She enjoys sitting in front of the screen door to the backyard. If someone is walking down the alley, she’ll let me know by barking (she does let the mailman go by unannounced). She has a nice, powerful voice! When outside she’ll go to the door when she’s ready to go back inside, waiting for me to let her back in. Upon entering, she’ll check her food and water dishes, maybe eat heartily or nibble, then ready to nap. Lexus doesn’t seem to know commands; however, after hours and some special treats she did do ‘sit.’ She’ll pay attention if there is noise from someone coming, front or back, but she doesn’t always bark, though her ears are always perked and she sniffs the air as she goes to the door. At night she finds a cool corner to sleep in. My home is kept at a comfortable temperature for me, but may be [too] warm for her. She has gone up on my bed a few times and took over her full half-portion! I do get up during the night and she gets up with me, wanting/needing to go outside. Overall, Lexus is nothing but a delight! If you feel she would be a good fit for you, fill out an application and let’s meet. 

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, spay, prepaid microchip, 4DX (heartworm/tick disease testing), dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $375.00

We are 100% volunteer based, so on occasion it could take more than the standard 24 hours.
