Meet Vivienne! Also known as Vivi, Wivvy-Woo, V-I, and more. We first learned about Vivienne via a post from a local animal control center, which had a video and multiple photos of her. She had already exceeded the required hold time, was labeled 'SUPER URGENT,' as her days were numbered (she had a death date). With 'black dog syndrome,' which is black-colored dogs are the last to be adopted, plus her being a Pittie, we knew she had a slim chance, so she immediately came into rescue and was our next/current foster!

Not surprising, it took Vivi a solid week before she really started to open up. We didn't know her background at all, but it was clear she was a beloved family member at one point, as she knew some commands already. We also didn't allow her to fully interact with our resident dog for a coupe weeks, giving her that time to decompress and settle-in, as the shelter can be a tough place for dogs/animals. Then came a moment where Vivi curled-up on our bed, next to me - TOUCHING even - and I knew we were on the right path!

Vivienne LOVES to play with our resident Lab, she's excellent on-leash, and is really good in her crate (barks occasionally - but typically after you get home and she wants out, or right when she goes in and you're about to leave). Our Lab went to a 70-day training facility, so Vivienne is picking-up and learning all the commands he was taught. On-leash she knows 'heal,' or 'back,' so she walks at-pace with you. She knows 'sit,' 'down,' 'here,' which is coming to you when called, and more. She's a smart dog and learns quickly. She is submissive to our Lab and shows very friendly playing style (bowing, rolling over on her back, her side, etc.). Vivi does forget sometimes that she's a big dog, not a puppy, throwing her body weight around! She's also amazing in the vehicle. She prefers riding shot-gun (which, I know, isn't the safest), but sits quietly, observing everything around her. She doesn't pant, she may get a little vocal if someone is near the vehicle that she doesn't know, but will usually curl-up and snooze until you arrive at your destination.

At night Vivienne will come-up on our bed, along with our Lab, for snuggle-time (she isn't the most snuggly dog, but does like to be warm, which usually means being next to you - though her preferred sleeping area is UNDER the covers in our bed! It's so cute.). When it's bedtime we tell them 'off,' or 'go place,' and they will go on the sofa for the night (sometimes it does take some encouraging to get them to go). Vivienne loves to have her head covered (again, prefers entirely under the covers, next to us), so I will usually go 'tuck her in,' which means covering her head/body with the remaining portion of the comforter she's lying on. Vivienne usually sleeps through the night, unless she needs an emergency let-out or hears something, then she goes flying down the hallway, sometimes barking, to see what's going on.

The dogs eat food (breakfast and dinner) in their crates. They 'sit' in the hallway until the crate doors are opened, then they are told, 'OK,' which means they can go to their crates. Food is dished-out, then they sit and make eye-contact before being told 'OK' again, which means they can eat. After eating they're let out of their crates and run to their shared water dish to drink, then it's playtime! Vivi, along with our resident Lab, are crated while we're at work, or whenever we leave the house. She is a bit of a blankie shredder in her crate, but thankfully doesn't eat or swallow the fabric pieces.

We've been slow to introduce Vivienne to other dogs, but recently she met an elderly Border Collie and, after a proper introduction, she loved hanging around him! We did have to correct her a few times, as she wanted to play with him desperately (she'd paw at him, ha) and he's an old man, so he doesn't have the kind of energy she does at nearly 2-years-old. She was responsive to the corrections and had a blast! We love our Vivienne and we're in no rush for her to find her forever family, but, when she does, we'll open our doors to the next 'Vivi' to help save that life, too. This girl is such a prize, such an enjoyable dog to have around, and you'll be lucky to find a gem like her!

Vivienne's adoption fee includes: DHPP vaccinations, Bordetella vaccination, Rabies vaccinations, de-wormer, flea and tick preventative, heartworm preventative, pre-paid microchip, spay, 4DX, dental, and a full veterinary exam:$285.00
