“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||
Yellow Labrador Retriever (short coat) : : Male : : Young : : Large
I am a typical Lab puppy ~ I love to fetch balls, chew on bones, chase the resident dog around the yard for a stick, and if I could just catch a squirrel! Oh boy, that would make my day! I have a great nose, too! I love to track the bunnies who dare to dart through the yard, and I can find any morsel of food hidden anywhere in the house with no problem at all. I really love food, it makes me a little crazy but it’s SO GOOD! But perhaps most of all I LOVE my people! Whatever my people want to do I’m all in. Yep, I’m a typical Lab puppy!
My foster says that being a typical Lab puppy is how I came to be in the rescue, though, which I don’t totally understand. I heard something about “foreign body surgery” being too expensive for my original owner ~ who knew I wasn’t supposed to eat those things!
Since I’ve come into rescue, though, my foster hasn’t seen me try to eat anything that wasn’t okay. They do have a pretty “puppy-proof” house, but I haven’t bothered the Christmas ornaments on the tree or the shoes by the door …I’m happy playing with the bones, balls and sticks.
Besides the frequent romps in the yard, we walk everyday and I really like that. I do well on a leash, although it takes me a little bit to settle down because I am so excited. I sometimes forget to walk nicely and begin to pull again, especially if I see a squirrel, but I’m learning. Along with the physical exercise I’m also learning some fun tricks like sit, stay, heal, and leave which helps my mind stay active. I’m a quick learner! Along with the exercise, being put in a kennel when my foster leaves helps keep me from being mischievous and getting into things that aren’t mine.
Like typical Lab puppies, I would love to have a home of my own for the holidays. Do you have room in your home and your heart for a typical Lab puppy?
