Hi everyone, I’m Winston! I’m a 5 month old 45lb Golden Retriever puppy. I came from Missouri to find my forever family! I came into rescue on 12/08/19 so my foster family is still learning about me but here are a few things they already know! I like to follow my foster mom around and sit by her wherever she goes. I also really like attention and to give hugs! I like playing with all of my toys but I also like being a couch potato and to cuddle. I am kenneled at night and haven’t had any accidents while I’ve been in there! But I have pee’d twice in the house but that’s only because it’s been so cold out! My foster mom thinks I was only peeing little bits at a time just so I could get back inside faster and a little while later I would pee on the floor but I felt really bad after each time I did it :( . Other than that I’ve been really good about pottying outside. At night when I first get put in my kennel I do make a lot of noise whining and scratching but after a few minutes I do settle down and sleep throughout the night! I like helping my foster mom make the bed and by make I mean pull all the blankets off as she goes. I also like to drag tennis shoes all over the house. I’ve been caught each time so my foster mom doesn’t know if I just like to carry them around or if I would actually sit and chew on them... My foster mom says my breed is very smart! I seem to already know what sit means but I’m still working on other basic commands. I do ok on a leash but would still need more training. I have taken two baths already because I was really stinky when I first came into rescue! The first one did not go so well I kept trying to get out of the tub and was falling over a bunch. The second one went a little bit better and now I always try to climb into the tub!. My foster mom also says that Golden Retrievers can have lots of energy so I will need to be kept busy with toys or to have a family that enjoys outside activities with their 4 legged family members! I’m good with other dogs, kids, but not so great with cats. I was reactive to one of the cats I lived with. I’ve rode in the car a few times and just sat on the seat and looked out the window. Loud noises still scare me but everything is still so new to me! My foster mom says once I warm up a little more that she thinks I’ll be fine! I have lots of energy and will need a family willing to continue training with me! If you have more questions about me feel free to reach out to someone at the rescue and they will relay any messages to my foster mom!
