Hello my name is Wish. My foster’s granddaughter named me this because she (and everybody) is wishing for a better life for me.  I would love to share my story with you but I am going to warn you my foster mom is really proud of me and since she is the one typing it might get a little wordy.

I came to No Dog Left Behind on February 1st from a puppy mill in Missouri. They say I spent my entire life, about 4 years, as a breeding machine. My mom knew right away there was something wrong and took me straight to the vet. I was so dehydrated that my eyes were sunken in giving me the look of being puffy. I also had a severe double ear infection and pus in my uterus from having so many litters of puppies. The vet did what she could and told mom she would have to sleep close to me to make sure I was OK. It was tough on mom & dad because I was so scared I wouldn’t walk at all, they gave me water out of a syringe and hand fed me. I was so terrified of everything I spent the 1st 5 days in an empty cupboard and they carried me outside to go potty.  I was 15-20 pounds overweight because I never got any exercise. I slowly started to feel better after being spay and was very interested in my 4 legged foster sisters. They, along with mom & dad, taught me how to go through doors (new ones still scare me but I’m trying) and go up and down steps.  I am discovering how fun it is to run around with my family and chase Frisbees. I don’t understand what it means to bring it back but I love getting pets when I come back. I’ve already lost 6 pounds!  My sisters are teaching me how to be a dog, it’s pretty awesome!  I eat in the same room as my sisters and will even share my food with them. Mom tells them that’s not nice but it’s OK with me. I still spend a lot of time by myself but if mom or dad is sitting on the floor I love being by them for rubs. I also love spray cheese! I have run of the house and am usually a really good dog, except the time dad left the TV remote in my reach and I chewed it. Now mom & dad make sure there is always toys around for me and my sisters! They don’t put me in a kennel because when I first came to them I refused to get out of the one they had. They figure I’ve spent enough of my life kenneled and they don’t want that for me. Sometimes the little girls come over and are excited to see me. They are very good about approaching me slowly and I just sit and let them pet me. Did I mention I love to be petted, mom thinks I need to make up for all the years I never felt a kind human touch. I think I could get used to children being around all the time but like everything else it will take me awhile. I ride in the car really good but need some help getting in if it’s a big jump up.

Mom & dad love me but they know there are a lot of other dogs that need their help and they are going to help me find a furever home. They say I need a family with patience and a lot of love to give. They also say it is very important for there to be a strong, confident but loving resident dog who can continue to teach me how to be a dog.

Are you the family that can make that little girls dream come true and give me a better life?
