Forest is a quirky, young pup who will give his humans all of his love. He wants to be by your side and even better in your lap to cuddle. He likes belly rubs and ear scratches. One of his favorite things to do is play fetch. He'll play inside, outside, two feet away or the whole yard, it doesn't matter to him.

Forest came to NDLB by owner surrender as he was displaying protective behavior of people in the home. Since being in foster care and going through some training Forest is doing well. He is still wary of strangers, and may bark at first, but if you give him some time he will warm up to new people, especially if they have treats. We've made a point to set boundaries of behavior so he knows what we expect of him when new people are in the house. Recently we've taken him to both the groomer and the vet and they both had rave reviews of his character and behavior.

Forest gets along great with other dogs. He has a foster sibling at home who's a husky mix that he loves to play chase with in the yard. He's been introduced to many other dogs and has spent the weekend in a household with three small dogs who he got along great with. Forest also enjoys the dog park, he likes to play with some dogs but mostly enjoys the larger space to run with his foster sister. Forest is a pretty good walker, he can be a bit nervous but does really well on a leader. Right now he stays in his kennel when his foster family isn't home and overnight. He is fully potty trained and has only had one marking accident.

Forest is looking for a home who would love him, quirks and all. He needs a family who would be patient with him when socializing him and who would be stern with him on the rules of the house. He would do best in a home without small children as they typically scare him. Having another dog in the house would be beneficial but not necessary. If Forest sounds like the dog you could love, please apply and witness his wonderful smile in person.
