Hi! I'm Karla/Marla. I'm a 3 year old, 75 lb shepherd mix. My foster mom says I am a gentle giant. I was pretty timid when I first arrived due to me being a bit hesitant in new situations with sounds and sights that scare me. I love being with my humans and the resident dogs - I especially love the dog park. I love my people, but it can take a little bit for me to warm up to new people. My first reaction is to bark and then I will sniff you and move on. I am excited to see you once I know you. I would likely do best in a home with another dog who wants to play and help show me that things are not as scary as I think they are. I would also do fine as a solo dog with a family who is patient with me. I love playing and have some energy. I would do best with a fenced in yard with room for me to run and play. I also really enjoy curling up with my foster mom and dad as I am an expert at snuggling. I am house trained. She is a very smart girl, and knows the commands sit, shake and touch. We are working on "leave it" and not jumping (she can get excited when we come home).  My foster mom says I am super smart and would love taking formal training classes. I sleep in a dog bed next to their bed at night and don't make a peep, unless there are scary sounds outside like fireworks etc . I get startled easily by loud noises, so I probably wouldn't do well with kids that are too little to know how to be gentle with me. We are working on leash manners. I don't bark at any pups or people, I just get nervous leaving my new safe house and try to get my mom to bring me back there as soon as possible! It's where I am the most comfortable. My foster mom says there is a family who can't wait to meet me and will be my forever home. Do you think that could be you?
