“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||

Rhodes is a very friendly dog. He enjoys time with humans. He wants to be petted all the time. He loves the affection. He likes to cuddle. This leads to him jumping on beds and couches. That in turn, leads to lots of dog hair on blankets. He is a shedder. He also likes to be in different areas away from his human sometimes. He tends to want to eat a bone or chew on stuffed animals, or
sometimes things he shouldn't be chewing on, elsewhere.
He likes to be outside. He can be on a leash by himself for a half hour or better at times. He doesn't seem to mind that. He may end up barking though. If there are people or dogs being walked, he will bark at them. He will bark if he wants to come in as well. Keeping him outside may lead to digging too. He has done a bit of that. He must stay on a leash. When taking him off of the outdoor leash one evening, he took off before he reached the door. He was after a rabbit or cat. He would not come or even stop when his name was called. He eventually lost interest and came right to me. That was across the street and 5 houses away though. He tries to do the same thing while on a leash. Any other movement, and he is after it. He enjoys going for walks. He will stop to take lots of sniffing and marking breaks. He doesn't tug on the leash much, unless a person or other dog is near. He's pretty easy to walk. He is rather skinny. I have been giving him the high end of his recommended food intake. Rhodes seems to know no commands other than his name and sit. I have been working on come and lay down. He came to me with diapers. I was told he was spotting/marking where he was at. I have not had any of that. He is completely housebroken. That being said, I have no other animal smells in the home. When there are people or dogs outside, he will whine. If he sees them through a door or window, he gets real antsy. Rhodes seems to have a bit of separation anxiety. When left at home in a kennel, he tends to salivate a lot. I have moved the kennel to a different place and have left the radio on and that seems to help. He will bark/whine when first put in the kennel sometimes. He has little trouble or fear of getting into the kennel.
