Lucy is an absolute cuddle bug. All she wants to do is snuggle and cuddle. Affection is her biggest motivation, and she wants to be with you every moment. She has essentially been living as a stray for the past year, so she will need some training. She is not potty trained, although she seems to be learning fast because we are keeping her on a regular feeding schedule. She doesn’t like going outside because she gets cold really easily, and that has been a good motivating factor in her potty training. She will need a little time to warm up to new people, sometimes she will growl at people or animals she doesn’t know. Even if they are walking on the other side of the street. She seems to be worried about other dogs and small children, she shows this by growling - she needs to gain confidence. She was around MANY other dogs before coming to rescue and was fine with them so she should adjust rather well with patience. Lucy has no issues with cats, as long as they are nice. She frightens really easily, and if she is scared she will pee wherever she is standing. She is very submissive. Lucy will need some training to get over her separation anxiety, because once she bonds with you she will get scared when you are not around. She will bark when she is left alone, so that means when you are in the shower or at the store she will bark. I have noticed that taking her on walks on her leash, where she is with you, but you are not holding her, helps with the separation anxiety. Walking on a leash by herself has helped to build some confidence. Lucy will do best with someone who can help build her confidence, who does not have small children or alpha dogs. Lucy will soak up all the affection that you have to offer, and will be a very loving companion.
