Cher is a 7 year old Cocker Spaniel. At 33 pounds she is one solid mama. Cher came to NDLB as a breeder release. Meaning prior to us fostering Cher, she was a full time mama producing lots of pups. As a full time mama Cher was never potty trained and most likely kept in a crate for most of her days. Considering her lack of potty training, Cher has been doing surprisingly well learning to go outside. Luckily, Cher’s potty schedule is predicable and her potty cues are easy to spot once you get to know her. For example, she will start to pace and look for a spot when she has to go. Cher does great in her crate and often takes naps in there while we are working around the house. When we leave the house for an extended time. She stays in her crate to avoid accidents around the house. She sleeps well in her crate over night almost every night - when she has slept in the bed, she was able to go all night without any accidents. Cher is great with other dogs! She even plays and interacts with the other fosters in the house. The only time Cher gets a little crabby with other dogs is when she’s being cuddled by her human and another dogs tries to join. When that happens she growls/groans at the other dog. We call her Cheryl when she is being naughty - so when that behavior happens we just say, “Knock it off, Cheryl.” and she quits immediately. Cher does very well with our resident cat. Cher does great on a leash and loves slow walks. She is one of the first of our fosters we have not needed to use a harness with because she is such a relaxed walker. Chers energy level over all is pretty slow moving. She will play and get excited, but for the most part she just wants cuddles. Cher does well on car rides. She seems rather indifferent about going for car rides but not bothered by them. Cher might have had a rough start to life being a mama and so many times over - but she has so much more love to give. She seems excited for life and eager to please her humans. We love her dearly, and can’t wait to see her retire into her fur ever home.
