Maisey is an adult beagle.  She is a little beauty, with cinnamon and white coloring and large, adorable ears and eyes.  Maisey is quite small, only weighing about 23 pounds.   Up until this time, she spent her life in a kennel producing babies.  Maisey is so very sweet and good natured, but she came to us afraid of other people, any dogs and even our senior cat.  She is also frightened of loud noises--trucks, cars, thunder, even the door bell!  It is obvious that Maisey has never been in a home or with people she trusted.  She has been with us for a week now, and already has started to come out of her shell.  She follows us all around the house, has started to play with some toys and looks forward to going for walks.  She met our three granddaughters and did so well--they sat next to her and she let all of them pet her and give her treats.  She loves to cuddle on the couch!  Maisey has never been housetrained, but she is doing great since being with us -- only one accident the day she arrived, and has gone potty on her walks ever since. She does well with a leash, but needs some work as she gets frightened when a car or truck goes by.  We are still working on the crate training, as she is not happy there yet; she'll stay in the kennel for an hour or two if she knows we are within sight, but at night will cry to be closer to us after about 3-4 hours.  We think she would do fine in the kennel if she is in our bedroom with us at night... we'll give it a try!  Maisey has obviously not had an easy or happy life, yet she is so very sweet, loving and affectionate--which is so amazing!  She will need some work being socialized with people and animals, but she is a very smart little dog and I think with a little time and patience, she will learn to overcome her fears.  

We are 100% volunteer based, so on occasion it could take more than the standard 24 hours.
