Heather is a sweet and gentle Cavalier King Charles breeder release who is just starting to come out of her shell and enjoy freedom. She is quiet and curious but still very shy and skittish. Loud noises, quick movements, and lots of activity scare her. She still flinches and ducks when we reach out to pet her but will relax and allow you to touch her after smelling your hand to make sure you’re ok. She is content to snuggle with people and dogs and comfortable in her crate.

She eats very well and is very food motivated. A tasty treat goes a long way! She lost a significant number of teeth and is currently eating a soft food diet. She may be prone to bad teeth and need them cleaned regularly. Her ears are also recovering from an infection and they may need regular cleaning.

Heather is getting more comfortable with the world. While she’s not a fan of leashes, she will walk around with one attached to her collar. Having it held shuts her down so our walks are around a fenced back yard. She loves exploring the backyard but loud noises- lawn motors, doors slamming, etc. scare her and she will sometimes bolt. A fenced yard she can safely explore would be ideal. She has only had one accident inside and seems to be totally potty trained. She doesn’t signal to go outside but will consistently go whenever she is let out.

Heather is curious about cats but doesn’t chase them. She is excited about other dogs and makes attempts at playing but hasn’t quite figured it out yet. Similarly, she doesn’t understand toys yet. She loves to follow other dogs around, watch what they do, and snuggle close to them. She would be great in a home with other dogs.

So far, she is very quiet and doesn’t have much to say. That might change as she gets more comfortable and finds her voice.

Hopefully with more time and patience she’ll master leash walking and playing and really start to enjoy her new life! She is an absolute gem who is starting to blossom and shine!
