Wilbur is a corgi mix born approximately 1/2019.
Wilbur is the perfect little puppy dude, if he does say so himself, and he is never wrong.
Wilbur hitched a ride from Kentucky with his two brothers and is loving the Minnesota life, he has gone on walks in the city, went camping with his mom and brother and is excited to try swimming in the lake next weekend. Plus, he does great in the car!
His favorite things include: playing with his big brother- it can get a little wild but is just the cutest thing to watch, hiding his chews way under the bed so just his hind legs and tail are sticking out, snuggling and getting tummy rubs from his mom while she works from home, and meeting new friends outside (both of the two- and four-legged variety!)
We are getting real close to mastering potty training on a schedule, not begging for mom’s dinner, and not jumping up on new people (ok well that one will still need some work, but he is just so darn excited to see you!) He loves treats and is a smart little guy. After watching his brother work on training at home, he is excited to start his own class sometime soon to learn all the other things he needs to know. I mean they hand out treats just for sitting on your butt, it’s going to be awesome!
He sleeps pretty well in the crate overnight but be sure to throw in a chew so if he wakes up he has something constructive to work on instead of trying to eat the crate itself. He can go eight hours overnight and about 5 hours during the day although does start to get a bit antsy if he can tell you are waking up or starting to move around. He is less excited about the crate if you have to leave him or need to get some work done, he will whine and bark for a bit but does eventually settle in and his mom thinks that will get better as he starts trusting she will come back.
As far as we can tell he only has one real problem area and that is a horrible sense of direction. Walks can get a bit tricky as he weaves from side to side, pulls then falls behind just to run up and pull again, but he is small, so that helps. Plus he stops and wants to meet everyone that you pass on the walk, even if you are in the middle of the street. It will take some training but I am sure he will master this leash walking thing in no time.
Wilbur is looking for a home to call his very own where he can cuddle up next to you for some Netflix and chill in between treat time and tussling with toys. Just look at those puppy dog eyes? How can you resist!
The facts: 18 pound corgi mix. Shedding is unclear- he is not shedding much now and doesn’t appear to have an undercoat but we can’t guarantee anything. He is not very vocal unless he is in the crate and/or he can’t see you. He does well with other dogs and would love a companion but would probably be fine on his own too. He lived with cats in Kentucky and they said he was very interested in them but he is pretty gentle so I think that is something that could be worked out. Reaction to new people is to jump up on them in greeting and he seems to love everyone- he has not been tried around young children, but older ones have been perfectly fine.
