Meet Gloria. A 70lb Female Golden Lab, surrendered from a breeder.
Gloria is quite shy and sometimes skittish, but just a sweetheart. It takes a little time for Gloria to get used to new people and commotion, but she is slowly becoming more outgoing. Gloria has been exposed to smaller, noisier children and has done fine, once she gets used to their energy. We have a new puppy and she gets along well with her, even playing. The puppy has been helping Gloria come out of her shell a bit. I’ve been fostering Gloria for about 2 months and she is still a bit uncertain with humans. Vary calm and at times withdrawn. Gloria does not have the run of the house yet, we have confined her to the kitchen and has found solace on the floor near the outside door. Gloria is house-trained, but is on a strict schedule. We haven't had an indoor accident in quite some time. When she needs to go outside, she will bark until you come. The only thing Gloria does not like so far is the vacuum. While walking, she does notice loud noises, but doesn’t panic, nor run Gloria is eating regularly, twice a day and does enjoy bones, chews and treats. She will not take food from a human hand yet. Gloria is not kennel trained, so we stopped trying to force her into using it. She is much more comfortable just laying down anywhere in the sunroom. Gloria is a wonderful walker. I have been using a short lead. The walk takes some time, as she likes to sniff and just doesn’t walk very fast. Gloria is learning her name, as it is new coming from the breeder. About the only command she understands is the word ‘No’, which will cause her to stop immediately what she is doing, so I assume she has heard it before. Gloria is not very comfortable riding in my truck. She needs help getting in and out as she doesn’t have much strength in her hips. When she does get in, she doesn’t move around much, more anxious to get out. Gloria loves the outside, snow and cold. When we had that brief snow in October, she loved to play and roll in the snow. Loved being outside.
