Willie is a 1 year old, male, 53 lb German Shepherd. Don’t let Willie B's size fool you. He is a sweetheart and absolutely perfect. He doesn’t seem to have had any training, but is learning so quickly. He dislikes the kennel and will bark and cry for about 20 minutes if left in there and then will settle down. He will go in there for food, but doesn't have any interest in staying in there or having the door closed. He is also working on housetraining and letting me know when he has to go out. He also will howl if he hears sirens close by.
He can be shy/timid/protective when meeting new people. I think he has possibly been mistreated, so trust is important to him. He has a big heart and a ton of love to give!
He is a slob when eating and drinking. Half of the water falls out of his mouth. He walks and eats because he just doesn’t want to miss his person for too long! He has been known to jump up to see what’s on the counter, so he still needs reminding with that.
He love other dogs. He does not care if they are 5 pounds or 50. He will try to play with them all! He is learning to walk better on a leash on walks. He pulls and stops to smell every blade of grass, but he is getting SO much better every day.
Willie B has not quite mastered the concept of toys and how to play. He will play with me, but I bring out a toy and he isn’t quite sure what to do. He has recently started bonding with two stuffed animals so that’s a start! He loves to play hide and seek and when he finds me he is ecstatic!
Willie B really just wants someone to love him unconditionally. He will need someone to spend some time on training with him because he is too smart not to have manners and commands! He has been a little timid of the neighbor kids but they run and jump and scream too much. He has never ever been aggressive with them though. He really is the perfect family dog that would love some excitement to bring him out of his shell. He also has trust in other dogs we meet and would do great learning more of how to be a family dog if there is a resident dog.
