This gorgeous long haired boy is Lander.  Lander is a year and a half old Collie mix who was found wandering the streets as a stray after his owners dumped him.  Because he was a stray, Lander is a bit timid to people and things that are new to him.  He has such a sweet soul, but it takes him a while to warm up.  With time, he learns to trust though.  Due to being having to fend for himself, he is a bit skittish. Lander does not like when you try to approach him from behind or pick him up.  He isn’t sure about the whole cuddling thing yet, but he sometimes gives in!  He absolutely loves to play catch, destroy toys, and go on walks. He does wonderful on a leash. As he has opened up more each day, his energy level has gone up to want to play with us and run around.  We are currently taking him for two to three walks a day.  He adores the fenced in doggie area where we can throw the ball for him.  Lander does know his name, how to sit, lay, shake, and working on come and wait.  He is very loyal to his owners and always make sure they are okay and within reach of him. This sweet boy loves to use his vocals and is quite the “chatter.” He is currently living in a home with two cats and would do much better in a home where he is the single pet.  I have only seen him interact with dogs on walks and have not had him exposed to young children yet.  I would say Lander would do best in a home with no small children as he does not like being startled or pulled on. He is potty trained.  He will go in his crate on his own, but once the door is shut, he is not too happy as he wants to hang with his people instead.  He really hates being alone, so he would do better in a home where someone was around often. Lander does not do too well in the car.
