Ginger, the Kentucky Feist
Never said this about a dog before, but Ginger is the girliest girl dog ever! With her ice blue eyes and pink nose and tummy, she is always pretty in pink. She has such a sweet and loving nature that she’ll win your heart in moments.
Ginger is 30-pound Feist mix, born approx 5/8/2018. She is still very thin due to some resolved medical issues; however, she’s working on gaining weight every day and is very responsive to treats. The tastier the treat, the better the response. She is very intelligent and learns quickly.
On walks, she is still hesitant and watchful of her surroundings. She doesn’t react negatively, she just stops, assesses the situation, and then proceeds cautiously. As she gets more and more used to our routine, she’s relaxing more. She likes to explore, just at her own speed. Unsure how she is with other dogs or cats, but guessing her shyness means it would take awhile for her to warm up.
Ginger kennels well once in there, but you have to “help” her into the kennel. She’d much rather be snuggled next to you on the couch, chair, or bed– anywhere really! She’ll settle down in the kennel after about 10 minutes. When kenneled during the day, again she settles and is quiet while you’re gone. Ginger rides well in the car and is always up for the next adventure.
She hasn’t learned to alert to go potty yet, but she goes all night with no problem and hasn’t had an accident in the house. As I’m home most of the day, she gets out about every two hours.
