If you're looking for a sweet and loyal shadow, meet Trixie!  Trixie has the face of a puppy, but the manners of an older dog.  She asks for nothing more than to be by her people all day long and she'd make an excellent work-from-home buddy or an office dog.  A home where Trixie is alone more than a very few hours a day would not be a good fit.  Trixie is super gentle with younger kids and is ready to love every single person she meets. 

 

While she almost never barks, she will at other dogs and while she would likely be fine with another dog, she hasn't been tried.  Her prey drive seems fairly high so small animals and cats should be introduced cautiously and may not be the best fit.  Trixie needs at least two long walks/runs a day, in addition to bathroom breaks and play sessions to keep her behaving her best. She loves walks and is working on her leash skills.  She plays like a puppy and loves all the stuffed animals, but hasn't shown any interest in catch, so far.

 

Trixie does well on a bathroom schedule and hasn't had any accidents when kept to it (barring a few in the beginning).  She's crate trained and happily sleeps in her crate all night.

 

Does Trixie sound too good to be true?  Well, she has a few behaviors we are working on.  She is learning that socks and shoes are not toys.  When Trixie gets excited she tends to start mouthing like a puppy, but is easily redirected with her favorite toy.  She doesn't seem to jump on people, unless she's begging at the table.  Her forever family should continue to work on these behaviors with her, but she will be a quick study with gentle, positive training.
