Halen is a 4 year old breeder release so he is learning about all things living in a home. He loves his 2 foster brothers and is even starting to play with them a little bit.
Halen LOVES being outside, even in the snow. He would thrive in a fenced in yard where he can play and run and spend a nice amount of time outdoors. He is not trained to walk on a leash, though I think with a harness he could learn and it would help his confidence. Halen is still unsure of people, but does not run away from his foster mom when she approaches to pick him up to bring him inside (he will run outside but still needs to be collected to come inside).
Halen did well riding in the car to the Vet's office outside of a kennel - he like to put his front paws on the center console and lean against his foster mom while he looked out the window. He stayed quite calm and quiet for the entire ride.
Halen has a foster kitty sister that is VERY unafraid of dogs and he does very well with him - he does not bite or chase or growl.
Halen still spends most of his time in his kennel with the door open. He welcomes scratches and pets, but does not seek them out. He prefers to lay in his kennel or in his foster mom's office which is located just off the main living area.
When we first got him he marked for the first few days, but has not gone in the house since. He really goes from being in his kennel to outside so that has helped with potty training. Keeping on a schedule has been helpful and he is doing great. He's about 75% there and with a little more time and effort he should make it the rest of the way.
Halen gets a little overwhelmed when there is a lot of noise in the house - the tv tends to make him retreat to his kennel.
Halen will make a fantastic addition to a family - he is coming out of his shell slowly and I think once he fully feels safe and bonded he will be an amazing match for a patient and quieter household!
