Madonna (Maddy) is a 9-lb. poodle who is just starting her family life after being released by a breeder. She just turned 8 years old and LOVES being with her favorite person and is calm, curious about her environment, confidant and quiet. She gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home, but she does try to dominate when it's meal time. She would do best in a home with another small dog that is more submissive, and feeding time needs to be separated. She needed to have all her teeth removed but one, so her forever family will need to ensure that softer food is provided for her. 

 

Maddie has not been tested with large dogs or children. She tends to be right at her human's side, so a household that doesn't have a lot of traffic or children would be safest. She needs people who can artfully dodge her tiny body to avoid stepping on her, but as she becomes more adjusted to family life, she will likely be more comfortable being more independent.

 

She was doing great with housetraining until the snow hit, and she's a little reluctant to go out now, but it sure helps having other dogs show her how it's done. She will need a home that will support her housetraining and understand this may be a process for a dog with her background. She does best when her human goes outside with her and provides praise and treats. She has adjusted so well to family life - she is always at the foot of her human.... unless she's on the lap!  She has been so patient during her baths and grooming - no drama from this girl!
