Hi, I’m Lennon! Lennon is a very sweet older boy who has had a hard life. Lennon was a breeder release so he's working on getting used to people and learning that we are ok - he's very timid and isn't used to getting cuddles and affection so we're trying extra hard to show him that everything is ok. Lennon has recently learned about treats which we are using to help overcome his fears – he loves treats, especially hot dogs and deli ham. From Lennon, “I will now walk across a whole room to my foster mom just to get a treat and I am doing a great job at it – or so I’m told!” When Lennon first came to us, he wouldn't look you in the face and hid in the corner afraid of human touch so he has made great strides in the few weeks I've had him.
Lennon has access to his crate 24/7 and the door is left open unless his foster people aren’t going to be home. He has started to venture out around the house checking out every last inch that he can find but he still tends to want to be in his crate (or close to it) most of the time – while in the crate he watches intently to all that is going on. He is slowly coming out of his shell and will require a home that has the time and patience to let him figure things out. He’s still afraid and tenses up when petted or picked up but he’s learning to relax more as time goes on. He currently lives with another Yorkie and a German Shepherd and does fine with both, although he does get a little sassy with the bigger dog. He will get a little possessive with his food when the other dogs get close but he hasn’t been aggressive. Lennon is working on house training and does ok on a schedule, he's not a big fan of the cold weather.
A calm and quiet household I feel would best suit Lennon at this point in his life, maybe a couple or single person with no young kids that can devote their love to him. Lennon is a special boy and is going to be a great companion for someone. If you set him on the couch with you, he'll lay next to you for hours. He does have dry eye and is currently on eye medication/drops (may be life long) - giving him his medicine is definitely a work in progress but with practice it should get easier!
