“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||

This is Opal! Opal is a typical energetic puppy. She loves her toys and anything else she can find to chew on. She also has found a love of shoes, slippers and paper but a quick switch for a chew toy and she is just as happy. Opal sleeps in her crate through the night and is doing really good with potty training. We have started trying to teach her how to use a bell to ask to go out. She tends to sit by the door when she needs to go but doesn’t say anything so maybe a bell will help her to communicate what she needs. We haven’t left her alone yet so not sure how she will do in the crate during the day but I think it would be fine. She loves to cuddle and have her belly rubbed. She is still learning to take treats gently and after a few of them she settles down but then then next training session she is super excited and grabby at first again. She has learned sit and is working on lay down. She eats fast. I’ve put a ball in her bowl to slow her down and that helps. Maybe a slow feeder would be good for her. She hasn’t shown any food aggression. I can put my hands by her and pick her bowl up while she eats and she doesn’t mind. I can’t feed another dog with her in the room as she will try to eat their food too even if she has her own bowl in front of her. She had been great with my teenage kids. She hasn’t been bitey or mouthy with us. We haven’t heard her bark much even though our dog is very vocal around her. She is still learning the leash and tries to pull it out of our hands. We’ve been working with her and been on a few walks but that’s a work in progress. She loves to run after her toys and tries to keep them all in one spot. I think the tennis balls and squeaker toys are her favorite. She is fun to play with and watch and is very snuggly. Opal will make a great pet.
