Gizmo is the smallest of the G-crew, but the biggest love bug! He gives the best puppy kisses. We are working on getting a little meat on Giz’s bones, but he really likes to graze when eating. However, he LOVES treats! This is great for training as he is very food motivated. Training is going well. The whole G-crew had to learn how to walk on a leash, which scared them at first, but they are getting used to it. Gizmo has caught on well to walking on a leash to go outside and do his business. We haven’t tried too long of walks since the winter here makes him shiver, even with a sweater on. Gizmo does know sit, but he has lots of wiggles, so sometimes he can’t sit still. I think once he is on his own, away from his sisters, he will be less wiggly and worried they are going to get his treats! We also use treats when outside and off-leash to work on recall and potty training. Even though Giz gets cold, he sure does to chase his sisters and foster sister around in the snow! He likes to do his business in the tree line and then he will come running back to us. We have been reinforcing this behavior with giving treats any time he returns to us and does his business outside. Similarly, we are getting him used to being in the crate. The first week we had the puppies, they all slept together in one big crate. After they had their spay and neuter appointment, we moved them to separate crates that are side-by-side. They do cry a little at first, but they eventually settle down for the night. Giz and his sisters love to play! Sometimes it sounds crazy, but no one is getting hurt and they just keep playing. He also does great with our big resident dog and listens to her when she says he is being too much. Giz has met our resident cat and is very confused and curious as to what a “cat” is. Gizmo is a great little lab mix who should be on the smaller side. He loves company and would love a playmate – human or animal – as well as a snuggle buddy to keep him warm after running around outside!
