Hello! My name is Josie and I am a lanky, silly lab mix that's ready for fun. I am housebroken, kennel trained, and know how to use potty bells. I am food motivated so I will be easy to keep training. I have been working on sit, lay down, shake, and stay. My foster mom makes me sit/stay while she gets my food ready and I listen REALLY well when food is involved. I get very excited to be outside and can pull, so my foster mom has been walking me with a gentle leader. I got to go on a hike with my foster parents and had a lot of fun, so I would be a great hiking/trail walking buddy! I love to be able to run around, sniff all the smells, and zoom with other dogs as it is a lot of fun and tires me out. Trips to dog parks or a big fenced-in yard would be fabulous! My home has to have no cats, as I'll chase them. Older kids will be better, as I may be a bit too much for smaller, non-dog savvy kids. I enjoy playing with squeaky toys, tennis balls in the yard, and my stuffed unicorn. I love to sleep on the couch and to be on your lap, or weirdly wedge myself behind you and fall asleep. Beds are where I'll gladly sleep if I'm allowed. I am not a fan of kenneling at night as I will bark for a bit, but will eventually calm down. This will lessen over time, but know that my first few nights I may make a lot of noise. I will follow you around the house to see what you're doing (this includes chilling with you in the bathroom), as I like being nearby my people. Did I mention I'm a couch hog? I can have some mild separation anxiety and bark when you leave, so my foster mom kennels me with a frozen stuffed kong when she leaves and I just hang out in there until she gets back. I would not be good for an apartment or a shared wall unit because I enjoy barking at things I see outside. Slow and patient introductions with new people are a must, as I will bark and need time for me to feel comfortable with them. Treats always pave the way to make things better too. Car rides are fun, I love being able to stick my head out the window and let my jowls flap in the wind.
