When you meet Toddy and those big brown eyes look into yours, you’ll be hooked. Toddy is an 8-pound Chihuahua-Dachshund mix born approx. 5/19/20. He is the sweetest, cuddliest pup ever!
For a little dog, Toddy is pretty mellow, yet energetic enough to keep you on your toes. Sometimes little dogs can be very “vocal.” Toddy will bark, but he’s not yippy or wound up all the time. He plays with stuffed toys, likes to drag his bed around until it’s positioned just so in a sun puddle, and loves to look out the window to see what’s going on in the world.
On walks, Toddy either trots out ahead of you, alert for squirrels and birds, or is content to walk right behind you. He likes to explore, just at his own speed. Unsure how he is with cats, but he has successfully met (and then ultimately ignored) other larger dogs. He has been around kids (ages 3 and 6) and was very good, letting them pet and hold him.
Toddy kennels well once in there, but you have to “help” him into the kennel. When kenneled during the day, he settles and is quiet while you’re gone. Of course, he’d much rather be snuggled next to you on the couch, chair, or bed – anywhere really! After a week here, he now is gated in the kitchen and just hangs out until I return.
Toddy rides well in the car and is always up for the next adventure. He’s a good eater and will dance for treats. We are just starting on training and commands. He doesn’t sit or stay or anything really other than just looking adorable 24/7. Making him wait, just a sec for now, before putting food down; he’s getting better at that every day.
He doesn’t necessarily alert to go potty, but he has amazing control for a little dog. He sleeps all night, doesn’t disturb you, doesn’t have to go out as long as last potty is right before bedtime. No accidents in the house ever. As I’m home most of the day, he gets out about every two hours.
Please consider adopting Toddy as your own. He will add an abundance of joy and love to your life.
