Kovu (we call him Fynn and he knows his name now) has been with us for three weeks. He is a sweet boy and, it goes without saying, absolutely gorgeous.

Training him with food of any kind (we just use his kibble) seems to work the best. He is VERY food motivated. We are teaching him sit, down (lay down), stay, and come. We are also teaching him that he is not allowed in the kitchen or on the couches, and needs to sit and stay before being allowed to approach his food bowl. He is a quick learner inside the house.

He has not been destructive. He has plenty of toys and bones to chew on and sticks to those items.

We have two resident dogs; one will almost never play with Fynn and he respects that boundary. The other can be forced into playing so Fynn picks on her quite a bit when he’s full of energy and wanting to rough house. She will eventually give in and is working on teaching him doggy manners when playing. We also have chickens and he does well with them also. He is interested in them but doesn’t pounce or “attack” the fence.

He is doing great at potty training and goes to the sliding glass door when he needs to go potty. He has not had an accident in the house for over a week. He has a "spot" outside where he goes and continues to go there.

He sleeps through the night (in his crate) as long as you don’t give him food or water within 3 hours of bedtime. He loves to snuggle in bed with you too.

He gets a mile walk every day just to work on his leash skills and he is getting much better.
He is also getting more comfortable with children.  His instinct is to bark at them but he does eventually warm up. Their quick movements, and desire to approach him head get him slightly anxious.

He is attached to his foster mom who mainly takes care of him but doing well with the rest of the family and meeting new people.

He is very vocal. He talks, barks, whines, howls...you name it, he does it. Shared walls will not work for him.

He is still an adventurer. He must be on a leash or in a fully secured, fenced in area if outside. His nose and adventure seeking get the best of him when outside so he does not listen when called if there is anything more interesting than his caller to distract him.
