Tristan, I was told, came from a hoarding situation. He is very timid. He chooses a safe place, either his kennel or my couch, and doesn’t move from that safe place all day. He gets very nervous when approached, so I have to approach very slowly, hands out, while talking softly reassuring him that nothing bad is going to happen. Currently, I have to pick him up to place him in his kennel to eat. Tristan will not do much while I’m in the room including eating. I also have another foster dog in the home, so I separate them to eat otherwise the other foster will try to steal his food. Tristan does not bark or make any noise except for a faint snore when he’s sleeping.  He is house trained, but because he’s so timid, I have to pick him up and carry him to the door to let him out. Initially, he is very scared on the leash, but once we get walking, his curiosity gets the best of him and he’s nose to the ground like a typical dog. Passing cars and trucks scare him. He becomes very anxious when big trucks pass, but we’re walking every day, and I’m working with him to calm him when a truck is approaching. Having another dog to walk with him helps, I think, so having a buddy for him is a must. Tristan does not like to sleep in a kennel at night, but he does ok for a few hours during the day. He is good with other dogs and cats. I do not have kids, so I haven’t introduced him to any. His energy level is very low. He doesn’t leave his safe place throughout the day. He shows no interest in toys or playing ball. He does not bark inside. I have heard him bark at other dogs while on a walk, though. I’ve only had him for a week, so I hope he becomes more comfortable and show me his personality. He doesn’t seek out attention or affection, but he seems to like scratches and his hair combed. I feel like Tristan is a very gentle soul, naturally curious, and makes a very well behaved companion.
