Hello, my name is Samuel (my foster family calls me Juneau but I'm not "used to" any name). I'm a husky mix approximately 5 years old and 36 lbs. A good samaritan found me wandering, lost & severely emaciated in a rural part of Kentucky. At the vet I tested positive for heartworm and was turned over to a rescue to find a new family Now that I'm healthy and have had my heart worm treatment I'm ready to move on. My foster thinks I'm the perfect dog. I'm potty trained completely and don't mark. I don't chew on anything I shouldn't and I'm not a counter surfer. I love dog bones (especially marrow bones). I have the run of the house & yard and love playing in the fenced in yard. I'm not an escape artist either. When I'm not basking in the sunshine, I'm at my people's feet. At night, I sleep on the floor next to my people's bed.
I'm a sociable, family dog. I live with 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 adults & a 5 year old boy; I'm great with their
boy. However, he's very pet savvy, & knows to never engage pets: face to face, lean or lay on them, and leave them alone when they want space. His petting only involves our head & body, he never touches our ears or tails; or goes by us when we're eating and I love that he's so respectful. I haven't been around infants or toddlers.
I crate very well, but I only crate when nobody is home. When I first arrived, I gave attitude & cried when crated (typical husky vocalizations) Now, I like my routine & wait in my crate on work days. I typically crate 9 hours. I don't whine about it like I used to, it's unknown If I make noise when nobody is home; so shared walls & apartments may not be a good fit for me. I've never destroyed my crate bedding or tried to escape my crate. I bark, but I'm not "a barker" like my foster family's dog who's ALWAYS listening for & looking out the window for things to bark at.
I LOVE chasing, being chased, & roughhousing. I'm quite vocal (again...it's a husky thing) but I have the softest mouth. I also like playing with our dogs AND CATS.. I'm quite intuitive, & play with one of the cats who ADORES dogs, BUT never bother the other cat who doesn't roughhouse with us dogs). I love to go car rides & walks! I pull on the leash & haven't been able to do leash training due to my heartworm treatment.
I'd love to meet you!
