Hi there! My name is Queenie! I arrived in Minnesota April 9th after being released by a breeder in Missouri and I was in desperate need of grooming. My foster mom groomed me up and I was very scared but such a good girl and now I look much prettier. In the short amount of time I've been in my foster home, I've overcome a lot and made great progress in learning to be a dog. Initially, I was only comfortable in my crate, and I didn't know what to do outside, how to eat or drink out of dog dishes, what a dog bed was, how to climb furniture or stairs, how to receive affection or play with toys or other dogs. Luckily, my foster home has two resident dogs that are about my size and I have really learned a lot from watching what they do and trying to do the same. I have recently started to play with toys and bones and enjoy the dog bed! My foster mom has been very patient with me and taught me a lot. I've learned how to eat and drink out of dog dishes. I still am not food motivated and won't take treats out of your hand yet and I tend to run away when approached. However, I'm starting to approach my foster family on my terms for petting and I even give a few kisses. I enjoy my crate when it's full of blankets and toys to snuggle with and I have not destroyed anything or had a single accident in there. Sometimes it takes me a few minutes to calm down in there and I'll protest with a cute little bark or howl if I feel like I'm being left out of something the other dogs are doing. I sleep in there during the day when my foster family is at work as well as at night and unless I hear a noise that startles me, I'm very quiet. I ride in my crate in the car without any issues as well. I am doing great with house training, and do well on a schedule and with close supervision as I still try to mark my territory in the house. I have figured out how to go up and down a couple stairs to get to the yard and I like to run and potty in the fenced yard with the other dogs. I am learning to walk on a leash and I don't really pull, I just don't know how to walk in a straight line yet and like to explore. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do when you say "sit", "down", "stay" or "come" but I'm working on it but that's challenging as I'm not food motivated yet. I'm quite nervous and shy at first, and I tend to pant and pace and run away from people, but I'm slowly starting to show my tail wagging goofy personality. Generally my breed is pretty high energy and does best with a job to do and lots of exercise. Right now I love to run around the yard and I'm learning to play fetch. Once I settle in and am not so nervous I'll probably be more high energy. Right now I spend a lot of time awake but just lay around nicely on my bed in the kitchen. I haven't really figured out how to jump on the furniture yet and I'm not too comfortable in the rest of the house, it's a bit overwhelming for me at the moment. My foster home doesn't have cats or kids or big rambunctious dogs so I'm not sure if I like those or not. Are you looking for an absolutely adorable, fluffy and small companion with quite a bit of energy? If so, I'd love to be the girl to keep you company!
