Hi! My name is Badger, but I am much larger than a badger so my foster mom calls me “Badger Bear.” I was born approx. 7/18/20 and the vet told me that I am a healthy 68 pounds. I am a big sweetheart, a bit goofy, and just want to be loved! I am a quick learner and so smart! I am easy going and love people – women, men, and kids. I love playing with the resident dogs in my foster home. They are both smaller than me, but we have a lot of fun! I have not seen a cat in my foster home, so I am not sure how I would react to a cat.
I am new to Minnesota. I used to live in South Dakota on the Lake Traverse Reservation. My foster mom thinks that I must have lived with a family for quite a while because of all that I know. I know basic commands like “sit”, “lay down”, “leave it”, “come”. I also understand words like “outside”, “inside”, “no”, “off”. I know not to jump on the kitchen counters, and I don’t jump up on the couch or bed until I am invited. I am potty-trained and know to only use the bathroom outside. I have not had any accidents since I came to my foster home. I love to be outside! I like am very curious and observant, so I love to see and smell everything in the yard. I like to go for walks on my leash, but I am still learning not to pull it when we are walking. The backyard has a fence so my foster mom lets me off my leash back there. I enjoy car rides, and either sit up looking out the window or lay down in the back seat. My foster mom took me in the car to get a Pup Cup! It was delicious and the workers at in the drive-thru loved me! When we are getting out of the car, I even know to sit and wait patiently for my foster mom. I sleep through the night, and sometimes even have a cute little snore. I prefer to sleep on the floor in the bedroom or near the front door. My foster mom showed me some dog beds, but I like the floor so far best. I stay in my crate when my foster mom leaves the house. She puts a treat inside so it’s not too bad. I do cry at first when she leaves, but I stop after a minute because I know she will always come back home. I like to look out the windows at my foster home. I bark when I see people walking by, but I stop when my foster mom tells me that everything is ok. I would love to find my forever family. I am such a good boy and can’t wait to show all that I know to my new family. I have been through a lot and would like to settle into my home. I am hoping for a family that will give me lots of love, be patient, and use positive reinforcement to teach me all that I need to know. I have a huge heart and can’t wait to meet you and love you!
