“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||

Rambo is a really sweet dog. He is potty trained and is currently being treated for heart worms, so it’s probable that he will need to take some medications. He’s a very calm, low maintenance dog. He’s on Prednizone right now, so he drinks a lot of water and has to urinate a lot. He lets me know he needs to go out by getting up and walking towards the door. For newcomers, I would take him out every two hours at least for the first 24 hours in a new setting. He loves belly rubs and attention, but he doesn’t seek it. He mostly keeps to himself. He gets along with other dogs, to a point. He’s showing territorial behavior around my new foster which he hasn’t shown before, so I’m working with him on that. He gets along with my cats in that they just mainly ignore each other. He has begun to also show separation anxiety which is something new. He knows when I’m about to leave the house and not just going outside to throw out the trash. He follows me into the garage and just jumps into my car without even an excuse me, ma’am so I just bring him along. When I can’t bring him with me, I just leave him in the house for no more than 4 hours at a time. I left him one day to run a quick errand, and he became destructive. Thankfully he hasn’t destroyed anything since then, but I think having another dog with him helps him stay calm. He really likes to hang out outside and walking is his favorite thing. I don’t have a fenced yard, so I mainly keep him on a long leash on my front porch. Since his treatments started, I’ve had to cut down the length of his walks and not let him do anything strenuous like jump around or walk too long. He rarely barks, and when he does, it’s usually someone coming too close to the house or passing dogs in the neighborhood. He doesn’t like loud noises and will start to tremble uncontrollably, especially around firecrackers. He used to tremble around grown men, but he’s grown out of that fear. He’s super friendly with people and other dogs, but mostly he’ll just sit and watch those around him. He does not like a crate and will bark incessantly and scratch at the crate if you try to keep him in one.
