Hi! My name is   Winkie.  I have the nickname  Zeekie .” I  am about 10 months old and weigh 32  pounds. I am a sweetheart and just want to be loved! I am a quick learner and so smart! I love people, and am great with them all – women, men . I have not lived with kids before.  I love playing with the resident dogs in my foster home.  One is bigger  than me  and one is about the same size. W e have a lot of fun! I have not seen a cat in my foster home, so I am not sure how I would react to a cat.

I am new to Minnesota. I  was first found dumped in a rural area with 3 of my siblings. We then went to live in foster homes in Kentucky. I was very thin, had severe mange, and was unable to see due to having entropion eyelids. While I wa s in Kentucky, I was able to gain some weight, have my skin improve, and I was neutered. However, they weren’t able to help me with my eyes. That is when I came to Minnesota. I had surgery on my eyes, and I am now able to see!

Given that I did not have a great start to life and just recently became able to see, I am anxious about quite a few things. I startle easily to loud noises. I am currently very nervous about going outdoors. I will usually step outside, but am not always willing to move away from the door even when my foster mom knows I need to use the bathroom. I  am hoping that once I get used to being able to see, that the world will seem safer and I won’t be afraid anymore.

Since I am not always willing to go outside, I know how to use  potty  pads inside the house. I am crate trained but need some convincing   with a treat to go in. My foster mom leaves me in the crate when she leaves the house, and I am quiet and seem comfortable. As I mentioned, I don’t enjoy going outside, so I have not gone for any walks. My foster mom has walked me around the yard on the leash. I do like to go on car rides. I like to sit on the back seat and look out the window.  I  also  like to look out the windows at my foster home. I do bark when I see people walking by, but I stop when my foster mom tells me that everything is ok.

I would love to find my forever family. I am such a good boy and can’t wait to  feel safe and loved with my new family.  I have been through a lot and would like to settle into my home. I am hoping for a family that will give me lots of love, be patient, and use positive reinforcement to teach me all that I need to know. I have a huge heart and can’t wait to meet you and love you!
