This is rescue. Do you want to
make a difference in one dog's life? Then
meet Lobo.
Lobo is a chihuahua born 12/18/12. He loves scratches behind his ear, cheese, and sleeping on his favorite blanket. Even though he is generally a very calm and quiet boy, he can get very excited when he sees his favorite people or hears a squeaky toy, and that tail of his will wag a mile a minute. He makes the cutest little snorting noises along with it.
But he is also very scared, terrified really, of anything and anyone new. He really wants to trust you, but if you move too fast he will scamper back into his kennel as that is his "safe" place. Lobo was rescued from a severe hoarder situation in Missouri, so you can imagine how he feels right now having been separated from everyone and everything he has known for so long. Lobo is getting much braver every day, and c
heese seems to be a very good motivator to come out and explore, but he does get overwhelmed very easily. He does want to be with you and will very quietly come to sit behind you where he thinks you can't see him.
He sleeps in his kennel all night without making any noise and will also be ok in the kennel during the day, if needed.
Lobo will need help with potty training and leash training, but what he needs first and foremost is a very patient and calm forever home where he can learn that he is loved. Potty and leash will happen second, although he will use potty pads pretty reliably inside the house. He is definitely looking for a quiet house, a relaxed and confident 4 legged sibling would be beneficial. He gets along with our large resident dog just fine and has even started to initiate a little play. This is the only time we hear him vocalize, he is otherwise very quiet. Lobo will be a very rewarding experience for the right person that can teach him to trust, that hands are gentle, laps are for snuggling, and what being a pet is all about. This is truly what rescue is about, and if you are ok with a little challenge, have time and patience, and looking for a little dog that no doubt eventually will be your best friend, then Lobo is for you. Will you be the patient home he is looking for?
