Maple is a very sweet 1 yo Boxer mix 36 lbs.  We think she was a stray, and she has learned how to be CUTE! She poses for photos! She wants to say hi to every person including kids and dog on walks. She is a sweetheart and a cuddler! She will make a wonderful companion for an active owner who will give her lots of attention and walks. She adjusted to our foster home and resident dog in a few hours, and loves to play with him. She actually won’t leave him alone lol. He is very tolerant of her but sometimes we have to separate them to let him rest. She sleeps in her kennel all night without a peep. If we put her in it during the day she whimpers a short time then gets quiet. We live on the 7th floor of a condo and go down an elevator and 2 long hallways, 3 doors then stairs to get to the dog potty area and she knows to wait until we get to the spot as long as I get her out the doors quickly. She has had 2 accidents in the condo on the wood floor. She has a strong resource guarding response to food. She does ok with the resident 80lb Lab/GSD mix as long as there is no food. We've tried with toys also and she did great with those playing tug with our other dog so no issues there. We are working on basic manners like sit, stay, come and watch me. She seems to be picking them up with practice. She needs a lot of work on recall, which we are also practicing. She pulls a lot on the leash, we are using a Herm Sprenger prong collar which has helped a lot. I would recommend continuing with that. We have not yet left her alone. I suspect she would be ok alone in a kennel, once she adjusts to new surroundings and gets a routine established. That is, if she gets enough exercise. She has quite a bit of energy and loves to play! She also DOES NOT know how to stay off furniture. If you don’t want a doggo on the couch she may not be the one for you. We let our pets on ours. She has a very strong prey drive, so either a fenced in yard or a leash at all times is a must! She would definitely run away if off leash. Take this sweet girl home and enjoy lots of cuddles and love!
