Charlie, Oh Charlie what a sweet dog you are. Charlie is about 2 years old, approx. 7 lbs and has all the typical yorkie markings. Charlie, you came into rescue all afraid, not potty trained and not responding to commands. In spite of your lack of training, your calm personality and gentle ways win me over ever time. Charlie is being introduced to puppy pads but still thinks that’s where he can bury his toys. His eagerness to pay attention and learn is commendable. Sit, fetch the ball, and ringing a bell to go outside for potty breaks are a start to training.

Charlie is very skittish around new people, especially men. He hasn’t been around children. He loves all dogs and wants to play, run and chase around the yard, he is very active. He also wants to engage the neighbor’s cat in play but the cat wants nothing to do with a pesky dog. The first day Charlie escaped the fence but didn’t run far. His enthusiasm to escape was just wanting to say hello to the neighbor’s dogs. Charlie doesn’t bite or nip. He doesn’t yelp or bark but patiently gives a gentle half bark until he catches your attention. He’s not a lap dog but likes a cuddle and ear scratch then contently goes to the other end of the couch or lays on the floor. He hates being in a cage and will scream, cry and fuss until the cage is removed from sight. He tolerates being confined to the kitchen but does suffer separation anxiety. He loves the resident dog and follows her everywhere and watches intently for the slightest sign from her to “join me”.  Charlie loves car rides. This is one amazing dog if you have the patience to work with his training.
