Hi I'm Balto. I'm a 6 year old husky breeder release. I am a bit shy when you first start to meet me, but I quickly come out of my shell with love and affection. I enjoy walks through the neighborhood. I am very good when we encounter other dogs on our walks and I am calm when we pass by them.
I love my new squeaky ball and am learning to play fetch and I quickly round up all the toys in the house.
My recent adopted family ADORED me, but the resident male border collie mix does not like me except when we went on walks together then we get along just fine. I did not instigate anything. Since I came from a Amish puppy mill farm I may be best suited to reside with a female dog!
I am so very sweet and cuddly! I love being made a fuss of! I enjoy learning with treats!
I am getting used to my name and the come command, my humans use food to reward when I come as this one took me awhile to learn so they always make it a positive experience! Now if I go the other way they say ah! Ah! Come! and I stop and come to them for a treat.
I am greatly intrigued by the cat and have chased her. I did learn quickly to listen to the commands No! Leave it! and so the cat does walk by me and is not afraid of me, but I am not trusted to be alone with her.
I love the command “this way” because it changes the direction of our walk! I listen carefully to ah! ah! as I know my people are giving me a warning. I am potty trained. I’m learning to love car rides as they take me to great places where I can enjoy walks in the woods.
I am full of gratitude and joy as I greet you with doggy kisses every morning!
At the end of the day, all I want is to be near you and if possible, cuddle you on a couch as I am learning to love and trust my humans.
I am a little overwhelmed by meeting new people and will hide in my kennel.
I enjoy the daily activity of a household and to be outside or in a bedroom with a window, rather than inside in a kennel, if alone. I like to spend a lot of time outside in my yard.
I am very smart and thoughtful I will study a situation and figure things out quickly. There are many squirrels in the yard and I did catch two!
I eat my food twice a day lying down leisurely next to my bowl and sometimes I take a couple hours as I nibble on it slowly. I am currently eating Natures Variety instinct, Raw brand Raw Boost high protein kibble. I enjoy rawhides as well. ( I didn’t eat much the first week here except scraps of turkey and ham as I refused everything else.)
I would prefer a home without cats and where I wouldn’t be alone a large part of the day as I really like to be near my family.
I am six years old and so I do slow down a bit at the end of the day and love to lounge around with my favorite humans
