Hey there,

I’m Beau. I'm a lab mix around 3 years old. I love everyone and every dog I’ve met.  Foster poppa even introduced me to the cat.  She was NOT in the friend makin’ mood, so I walked away.  Speaking of walking, I’m not perfect on the leash. But wait, hear me out.  I grew up running loose with other dogs most of the time, so this leash thing is new for me.  However, I do want you to be proud of me, and I’m working hard to figure it out.  I walk pretty quick, so I am usually at the end of the leash and there is some tension on it, but if you remind me with a finger snap, whistle or little tug, I will come right back to you for a pet…and then probably start walking fast again, but hey, I’m a work in progress.  Majority of the time when I get to the end of the leash I don’t try to pull you off your feet, I just want to keep going, but I’m not rude about it.  Unless…it just rained.  Then my nose can get overloaded with all the magnified smells.  There are just so many different things to smell and only so much walk time.  That said, everyone that has met me tells poppa how impressed they are with how far I’ve come and that makes me very happy, because I really do want to be the best pup I can be.  And once we come inside, I love nothing more than laying beside you, rolling over for a belly rub and putting my head on your lap.  Let’s face it, I would love to sit in your lap, and if you ask me to, I will.  However, I realize I’m a little big for that and am happy just snuggled up close with you.  At night I spend part of the time on the bed and part on the floor, so we can make the sleeping arrangements work.  I’m not a fan of the kennel.  If you open the door and motion toward it, I will go in without issue.  However, I get lonely and miss you, and will let you know that from time to time. I’m not really big on toys and bones yet.  I did pick up a small stick on or walk today and really enjoyed chewing on that while we walked.

Hi, Poppa here.  Everything Beau said is true.  Everyone at the rescue and our neighbors have all be impressed with how well behaved he is, especially after I tell them he was roaming loose before coming to NDLB just a week ago.  Beau met our new neighbor this evening.  He would pet Beau, then get up saying he had to go eat, then pet Beau again.  He repeated that long enough that by the time I said we needed to go, pretty sure his dinner was ice cold.  While thinking back over the week Beau has been here, he has never jumped up on anyone.  I originally thought they named him Beau because he is perfect boyfriend material (sweet, respectful, kind, snuggly). But after seeing him run, I think they planned on naming him Beauty until they realize he was a he and figured that wasn’t a boy’s name, so they shortened it to Beau.  He is still figuring out the leash, but he will get there with some patience and time.  And he seems to be getting better about the kennel.  He doesn’t destroy anything, he just barks a fair amount when he knows we are elsewhere in the house.  He really does want to stay close to people.  His snuggles are the best and let you know he really does love you.

Ok, I have to share what happened last night.  We are watching a husky for a friend, and it sounded like Chewbacca was in the other room.  My wife finally left the bedroom Beau was in to sleep by the husky and hopefully end Chewbacca’s solo act.

She had left Bear out of his kennel all night by himself.  When we checked on him in the morning, NOTHING had been touched.  The bed was just as she left it, nothing chewed on and he didn’t bark at all during the night.

Aside from some mild pulling we are working on, he has been 100% awesome.  He even assisted me in helping a new foster introduce their puppy to new dogs.  He was patient and playful with the new puppy.

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, dental, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00
