Fred is the definition of mans best friend. He is a 5-6 year old lab mix that weighs 51 pounds. Once he warms up to you all he wants is to be by your side. He is house trained but does not signal when he needs to go outside, he just waits until a walk or whenever you bring him out. He has had zero accidents, he’s very good at holding his potty. Fred does really well on a leash and enjoys exploring with his human friends. After a morning walk he is ready to nap all day until his people come home from work. When you come home he does the cutest little happy dance. Then he is ready for play time, walks and hanging out with his people. A medium energy family would be best for him, as he’s the perfect balance between a couch potato and a high energy dog. He’s been getting 2 short walks (or 1 walk and 1 outting) a day and that seems to be perfect for him, when it’s only 1 walk he gets antsy and will beg by the leash to go again. He also really enjoys just sitting outside and watching the world turn. Fred does amazing in vehicles, he loves going on truck rides and being the best shot gun rider. He’s extremely gentle and has shown no signs of food aggression. He’s not exactly food motivated, only if it’s a super fragrant food/treat. He does seem to do well with kids that pass by him on walks. He is very friendly with other dogs! However he has not been cat tested. Fred is extremely tolerant, nothing really seems to upset or bother him. His fosters have enjoyed taking him to pet friendly stores and restaurants with patios, he does very well, exploring and smelling new smells.

Fred does have a weak back right leg, his gait is a bit different and when he is sleepy he will drag his toes on that side. But it doesn’t seem to cause him any pain or discomfort. He does stairs, climbs in the truck and goes on walks without any issue. Swimming and long hikes might be the only challenge for him. Usually after a long walk he moves a little slow, so his owners will just have to keep an eye on his limits.

He is questionably kennel trained. He won’t have and accident or bark in the kennel, but he gets visibly stressed and breathes/pants very hard. His fosters have been letting him sleep in their room with the kennel door open with access to move around the room and he does very well with that! Fred would love a forever home that would let him snuggle all night long with him in their bed, but for now he’s happy in his dog bed on the floor.

Overall he is the best boy you could ask for. If you show him love and attention, he will love you endlessly. All the hard training is done with him. He just wants to be best friends with humans. He is fully vetted and neutered. The only thing missing is his forever family!
