Toby is a sweet little guy who will make someone a great pet!

He came to us house-trained. (yes!)  He has gotten used to his kennel when we are away for a few hours in the day, but does NOT love to sleep in it at night. He is much happier in a room with his humans. Toby is comfortable around our 13 yr old and 10 yr old, we have not seen him around younger children.  He LOVES the kids in our house, and is happy to climb into their laps and beds.

Toby has slowly warmed up to our two year old resident dog, and the two of them co-exist mostly peacefully.  They are not yet playing together, but they follow each other around a lot!  Toby has not been around cats, so we do not know how he would do with that.

Toby is shy when first meeting people, barking and slow to approach.  Once he warms up though, he is in your lap and will follow you around.  As he has gotten comfortable in our house he wants to protect us (via barking) from sights and sounds that he does not recognize.  As with all dogs, we highly recommend getting Toby into training.  He seems smart, and responds well to treats.  We have seen improvement regarding his barking with some training!

He walks easily on a leash the few times we have had him out.  And rides in a car just fine.
Energy wise, he is pretty chill!  He is 7 years old and small, so running a bit in the backyard seems to be plenty for him!  Then he is happy to nap nearby (or in your lap) for big portions of the day.  Cuddling seems to be one of his favorite activities!  He will make a lovely pet for just about any family.

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $285.00
