Penny is a sweet Jack Russell mix. She weighs about 14 lbs and appears to be part dachshund because of her long slender body.  She’s a beautiful dog in spirit and looks.  She loves to run, play with squeaky and chew toys, catching balls and having fun. She is a charmer. Plenty of exercise and a secured space outside is a necessity so she can run off some of her energy. Given the chance she’ll run away.  Food is a major motivator to her training. Penny is potty trained by ringing a bell to go outside or will use puppy pads as needed.  Sit, Down, Up are her commands.  She loves cuddling and lying on laps. Snuggling  under the covers in our bed at night is her nirvana.  Leash training is still ongoing because she wants to dash off to investigate everything she sees.  Penny gets along with other dogs and loves nothing better to run and wrestle together in play.  Her interaction with cats is unknown.  Still working on controlling her barking when the doorbell rings or when she sees animals running in the yard.  She doesn’t bite or nip but likes to “mouth” when playing. My little yorkie reprimands her with a yelp when she does that and Penny immediately backs off. When I reprimand her, she slinks away and hides her head in shame.  Within seconds she slinks back wanting reassurance that all is forgiven.  A belly scratch, a hug and we’re friends again. Penny wants to do what’s right but still has a few things that need training. The love and devotion you get in return from her is worth the effort.
