Meet Ragu! A dog like this only happens to you once, she is such a dream of a dog. At about 10 months old Ragu is the sweetest, well-tempered dog I have met in a long time, especially for her size. She is very playful, loves her rope, goes bananas over her Kong, and can not contain her excitement over an ice cube (yes, an ice cube). She is the goofiest girl who loves her belly rubs and snuggling as close as she can. As you can see, at 65 lbs she still thinks she is definitely a lab dog. She adores children, loves other dogs, and is convinced that everyone loves her and is her instant friend. She will come straight up to you, sit on your feet, and ask for a pet. She can also settle down easily and snooze in the sun.
Ragu is super smart, within a few days she adjusted to new house rules like not going on the furniture and staying out of the dining room while her foster family eats dinner. She knows sit and come, although both are still a work in progress. She is starting to use a bell to let us know when she wants to go outside, or she will just sit quietly in front of the door. She is completely potty trained, with no accidents at all. She will go in a kennel at night IF the kennel is in the same room as someone else. She does not like being kenneled and left alone.
Ragu is a very active and strong dog and will need a very active family that can give her daily long walks. She will absolutely love being outside hiking and camping and enjoys car rides. We have not tried any biking or cross country skiing but I have a feeling she would be amazing and just love it. She will need basic training, especially on how to nicely walk on a leash. But as she is super smart, she will learn that in no time. Due to her size and energy level, a family with older kids would be better, but only because she will push over smaller children when trying to get pets. She has a high prey drive, so no cats or other small animals. She does great with other larger dogs though. Ragu is the perfect dog any family can wish for.
