Papillon (long coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Small Learn more about the Papillon.
Gizmo’s, I was born approximately 2/13/20, personality is classic Papillon (though I believe she has little long-haired chihuahua) The AKC description; “ The quick, curious Papillon is a toy dog of singular beauty and upbeat athleticism. Despite his refined appearance, the Pap is truly a 'doggy dog' blessed with a hardy constitution. Papillon fanciers describe their breed as happy, alert, and friendly.” fits her perfectly. Her personality is sweet and playful. Her most favorite thing to do is go for walks, and her second favorite is to go for car rides. Her favorite game is tug-of-war, and she is very good at grunting and growling to put the oomph in her tugs. She likes her toys, too. She likes other dogs okay, but is not too interested in them. Kind of the same with children that visit me. She likes to be close to me, but she’s fine when I give attention to my terrier or dachshund. Not an attention hog. She is mostly potty trained. I have potty pads for my senior dachshund, and if Gizmo can’t make it outside she has never missed a pad. (Unlike my own dogs) She does need some work on her leash and car manners, but is eager to learn and please. She is not food motivated. Kind of a lite eater, as well. She was housed outside before coming to me and does not like crates so I have not used one with her. She does fine left alone to roam when I’m not home. She does have a little separation anxiety evidenced by her freaking out (as if she was sure I wouldn’t come back) when I return from even a short trip. She is definitely a people dog and would not do well away from her people for too long. I have fostered one other papillon and she had the same personality. They are a lovely and thoroughly enjoyable breed. Very special, in my opinion, and I’ve fostered more than 30 small dogs. I would consider any family that adopts her very lucky.
