Layla is a very loving girl who wants to be close to her people whenever possible. She had a few accidents in the house at first, but now appears to be completely housetrained. She learns quickly, and now understands that she can’t jump up on counters, tables, furniture and people. At 102 lbs , she is still technically a puppy, and sometimes forgets her size at times – especially when given a new toy or when playing with another dog. For this reason, Layla would probably do best in a home with older children. She is working on learning a few commands. Right now, she knows “sit”, and sometimes “come”. She can be stubborn at times if she isn’t interested in obeying a command, so continued training is important for her success.  

She does well in a kennel when left home alone, but she prefers to be near her people whenever she can. She sleeps very well in a dog bed in her foster parent’s bedroom. Layla does well with other dogs, but can play a little too rough with dogs smaller than she is. She does very well with cats and ignores chickens/poultry.  

Layla’s favorite things include squeaky toys (her absolute favorite!), Kongs, rope toys and stuffed animals. She also loves to destroy tennis balls, much to the dismay of the other dogs in her home. She’s a strong chewer and can easily demolish a toy in minutes, but she hasn’t tried to chew anything she isn’t supposed to.  

She loves to play outside, and, coming from Kentucky, has decided that snow is kinda fun as long as the temperature isn’t too cold. She enjoys car rides, does very well on a leash and doesn’t bark much.  She would love to go to a home with another dog to wrestle and play chase with. But, most of all she would love a home where her people will love and understand her breed. She is truly an amazing dog who deserves all that and more.
