“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” Quote by Josh Billings | ||||

Cassie is a 3 year old Rottweiler who may not have had the easiest start in life. She came to us from a shelter in TX, and not much was known about her. Thankfully, that tough start didn't affect her too much, as her trust can be gained in seconds (as long as you have treats). She was a little unsure of the first couple men she met, but since then has been fine with all others. She has met some kids and did will with them, however, she is still learning how to love people without using her mouth (likes to give soft love bites when cuddling or playing, and occasionally will pinch us with her teeth), so young children may not be the best option for her. It isn't a deal breaker, as she is really learning, and she didn't get mouthy/bite any of the kids she's met. She can get a little nervous with sudden movements, but is starting to calm down a bit with that, as she is realizing that nothing bad is going to happen. She is overall such a sweet dog, great with other dogs, shows a slight attitude upon first meet, if they're in her face, but has been perfect with my dogs. She's been on one walk (she hasn't gotten used to the cold yet, so not too many walks), and while she is great on the leash, she was scared of everything and we had to encourage her a lot.
We took her on one adventure to test her a little in a social setting, and she did great. Wanted to meet everyone and didn't even acknowledge the other dogs present. People asked if she was a puppy, because for a Rottie, she is kind of a peanut at 70 lbs. Cassie is potty trained, however, I like to mention that like many dogs, she may have accidents the first couple days in a new house as she figures out the routine and how to ask to go out. She is kennel trained. She will go in on command for a treat and once she is in, she will mellow out and relax. Occasionally she will paw at the door for a couple minutes but it never lasts long. We have not cat tested her, but with how mellow she is, I can't imagine it would be an issue. She is a perfect car rider, stays in the backseat and will either lay down or watch out the window. She gets in on command and doesn't try to rush out when you open the door, which is always nice in a big dog! Cassie is such a sweet dog, super mellow, but when she does get bursts of energy, it's the best thing. She will hop around and go after toys, sometimes gets the zoomies outside. If I were to rate her "gracefullness" on a scale of 1-100, she'd probably be a 2 or lower. It is entertaining. Most time time, she prefers to nap, cuddle, and try to chew on us, which we are working on.
Cassie would do best in a quiet home, she doesn't like yelling, with a family that would help build her confidence and teach her that biting is not appropriate. She doesn't know a lot of commands, but she sits like a champ and we are working on "down", she would love to learn more in her new home. She also would do best in a house with another dog (any size would be fine) to help her learn the house rules and routine.
