Meet Cal!  I was born approximately 3/20/20, He’s an incredibly sweet and affectionate shepherd mix! He is doing really well with his house training and will stand by the door and whine to let you know he needs to go. He also does well in his crate overnight, but gets sad if we leave and crate him, he has some separation anxiety to work through! His foster mom works from home, so he isn’t alone very often which he loves. His foster family has a toddler, and he does well with him. Sometimes he gets excited and wants to play a little too rough, so then we separate him and the child. We have seen absolutely no signs of aggression towards people or dogs. He does seem to want to chase the resident cat, however, so we’re working on slow introductions. He doesn’t seem scared of anything, but he will chew on shoes if he gets bored with his toys. We got a Kong for him, and he really enjoys that. He walks pretty well on a leash but gets excited and pulls once in a while. He also rides well in the car. Given his young age, he does need daily exercise- his foster family has been going on a two mile walk in the evenings and his foster mom plans to take him running once the weather gets nicer. Cal LOVES toys! He loves squeaky toys and crinkly toys, and his human foster brother’s toys! He’s also a great nap companion and cuddler. We are trying some obedience commands with him, and he seems energized by that. Cal is a smart, affectionate, wonderful dog!
