Excuse me… if it’s not too much trouble, I’d… I’d like to talk to you. My, uh, name’s Jake and I’m ready to go home now. I’ve been in rescue since I was a very young puppy learning how to be a very good dog. I'm around 1 year old now and 50 lbs. I’ve conquered a lot of my fears and learned what things I like and don’t like so I will find the perfect forever home this time.

My foster says I’m an introvert. I like to go out and have fun at doggy playgroup, but come home to a nice quiet house where I can reflect and chill. I’m very sensitive and respectful when it comes to other dogs and even cats. I’ve lived with many dogs before but thrive with dogs who are confident in their own skin and confident with people  or with a chill dog who I can follow around. I could be an only dog also. My current foster has a cat who's normally scared of dogs, but she trusts me! Maybe one day she’ll snuggle up to me, but if not that’s ok. I respect her personal space. When the cat acts strangely though, I tilt my head and check in with my foster who tells me that the cat is just afraid. That’s good enough for me. I don’t chase. I stay calm and let her come to me. I get it. I get scared too.

I prefer cats and dogs to humans and it takes me a while to trust people. When I do, you’ll know it. I like cuddles and pets but at my pace. I like a little bit of excitement (e.g. visitors) in small doses but would like those visitors to go home so I can relax again. Too much energy overwhelms me so I might do better with patient adults and kids who understand I’m not going to want to play with them right away.

To relax, I like squeaky toys, chewing on bones, and hanging out in my kennel. Even if I sometimes like to nap on human beds, I need a personal space to go to when I need a break. I can hang out in my kennel all night with no problems and can hold it a real long time. Sometimes my foster forgets I’m not even a year old because of how mature and well-behaved I am. I’m not an excitable puppy pushing boundaries. I’m respectful, and obedient (when I understand what’s expected of me). I even know a few commands like how to sit and lay down!

Over the last few months, I’ve started to come out of my shell more and more. I like to go on walks and explore the outdoors. Would you, please, maybe take me for a walk and maybe even, I don’t know, take me home? I’m ready!

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination if age appropriate, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $550.00
