Hi, I'm Elenora (my foster family calls me Nora for short).   I'm a mixed shepherd breed and my people think I'm about 2 years old.  I'm told I have beautiful markings and am a perfect size.  Smaller and a bit  sleeker than a typical shepherd, I weigh about 60 lbs.  I came to Minnesota from Kentucky in April while pregnant and gave birth to 10 puppies in May.  I was a great momma, but my puppies are all finding their forever homes now, so it’s my turn!!

I love chewing on bones, taking walks, and napping near my foster mom.  I'm what they call curious.  I don't know exactly what that means, but they say this whenever they catch me peeking in a clothes hamper or checking out the countertops.  I'm learning to stay off the furniture unless invited and to leave the countertops alone (but it does smell really good up there!).

I hear the people around me say I’m pretty sweet... I love to hang out with my people!   I like to nap a lot during the day if it's quiet, however, if there is any activity, I want to join in the fun!  I was only a little bit timid when I first met my new foster 'sisters'.  They barked at me at first, but soon I was just 'one of the pack'. After the first day in my new foster home, I was running and playing with the resident dogs as if we have known each other forever.  Sometimes they have more energy than I do, so then I just sit and happily watch them play.   Oh, and I like human kids too!

I don't mind a good, fast walk, but would prefer a leisurely stroll so that I can sniff everything on the way.   I've been known to chase bunnies, squirrels and yes, cats , so best not to have one in my forever house - I can't help myself! I like to walk right next to my foster mom on a loose leash.  I don't chase other critters when I'm on the leash, mostly I ignore everyone -- even the neighbor's horses. I like car rides, too! I sit or lie quietly in the back seat and enjoy the ride. I'm not a big fan of the crate, but I'm perfectly housetrained and very mellow.   I am trusted to be left out when my people leave the house.  I sleep all night in my people's bedroom, on my own bed.

Do you have a big yard with another dog or a kid I could play with?

Foster Mom here - Nora is very smart and treat motivated --she takes treats very gently.  She is also an excellent guard dog - she will let you know whenever anyone is passing by the house or coming up your driveway.   She has been learning to "leave it" when we say enough.  She loves people.   Once they've been invited inside and she has had a chance to sniff - everyone is her best friend!

Nora is such a sweetheart and will be the best companion anyone could ask for. She would love to have a home with a big backyard to run and play in and someone to give her lots of belly rubs!
